Have you ever wondered what college you should go to? Is it a junior college? UC or CSU? Or maybe you have even considered going to a private college? Students never really keep in mind where they’re planning to go after high school is over. Some think that it is much too far away to worry about it, but on the contrary college is just around the corner. So why not think about the future for a sec?
For those college-bound students who have plans in applying especially seniors this year, ever wonder what college you should apply for? Just thinking about college, it’s a big step that everyone faces in one point of our lives.
Students interested in applying and attending universities here in California should apply for UC’s and CSU’s. Even though our school has low test scores, many of our students get into elite colleges like UCLA, UC Berkeley or UC Santa Cruz. In order to get into the UC’s and CSU’s in the first place. Students must complete and meet the standards including the A-G requirements and the SAT and ACT. To be eligible through this path, students must earn a high school diploma or the equivalency in order to complete the three requirements, which are the subject, examination and the scholarship requirements. The scholarship requirement is the combination of the students GPA and the standardized test scores. Overall UC/CSU’s have great opportunities in which they are also diverse within their campuses.
Some who consider about getting into Private schools in California such as USC, Stanford, and Pepperdine or out of state like NYU, Cornell and Columbia. They demand commitment and hardworking students who strive for their academic success and that are interested on taking on the rigorous challenge. Private school professors have hands on communication with their students in and out of class. Most private campuses have involved students that have activities or are in student communities. Even though private colleges crave for so much, they have alternatives in accepting students such as merit scholarships. When the student and the college are both interested, negotiations are made by the way of grants, merit scholarships and other financial incentives. For those students who have good G.P.A and knock out test scores should consider applying at any private college they are interested in.
Other students who prefer attending Junior/Community colleges like Harbor or El Camino, will be admit anyone who is a high school graduate or at the age of eighteen. They too follow the requirements of the UC/CSU’s. All California community colleges administer Math and English assessments in order to determine what level the student begins in. For those students who would like to transfer out of the Community Colleges in to Universities after a couple of years. They must obtain at least a 2.4 grade point average in order to get transferred.
For those who still think that college is just a couple of years away, well think again. High school life can pass by quickly and college is almost at reach, so why not plan? It makes it a lot easier when college comes around.
