Study hall, if used correctly homework can be done, makeup work could be completed, and you can fit in some studying for tests. But some issues are present that prevent some students from accomplishing anything during study hall.
Rules have been made to restrict the student athletes from going off campus and roaming around the school. Study hall has now been moved to the cafeteria again and some teams have been moved to separate classrooms.  These changes have been made to try to increase the sucsess of our student-athletes. Mr. Thibeault stated that he wants to shoot for “75 percent of students to have a G.P.A of 3.25 or higher."
Many students have been complaining about the moves and changes for study hall. The Cross country team has now been moved from the media center, to the cafeteria, and now to a teacher’s office in the F court. Cross country runner Mike Collins had this to say about study hall, “I like the concept of study hall but the only problem is that we have to be in the same room every day.” He also stated that he would “rather” be in the media center to study then in the cramped room in the F court. Other teams like Volleyball, golf, and football have been moved to the cafeteria. Many students feel like they should have more freedom during study hall so they can go to enviroments that are less noisy and distracting.
Mr. Thibeault wants to change study hall by creating an environment for “students to go to study hall with focus.” This seems to be the main issue when approaching study hall. The potential for study hall to be great is present, but students are not capitalizing on this opportunity. Even Mr. Thibeault admits that while the majority of student-athletes are prioritizing this time given to them to catch up on homework some student-athletes “might not be doing the same.”
