Different styles of mens shoes. - Will Urban
Advertising

Women may be known for their excessive interest in shoes, but little did our society know; men are just as bad if not worse. It is apparent that the male students in Patterson Mill High School this year are individuals when it comes to their shoes unless they are on a team. With different occupations or activities for men to participate in, all of them will need a different pair of shoes to compliment their needs. Whether it is necessary for your construction job to wear boots or to wear high top Nike shoes to basketball practice, every man has a preference in shoes.

Although Chuck Urban works in management at Lowes Home Improvement and is required to wear dress shoes at work, he still buys running shoes to work out in for what Chuck says, “the way they look”, which is just one reason for men buying shoes.

For most men such as Ian Dowding, a junior soccer player at Patterson Mill High School, and Chuck, their shoe choice comes down to which shoe is more “comfortable” says the both of them.

Another key factor for many is cost. Dowding and Nick Stafford, sophomore basketball player at Patterson Mill High School; spend around $120 on their sports shoes because they are either required or give them an advantage over other athletes.

Some stores where these shoes may be purchased stated by Dowding and Stafford would be “Champs”, “Footlocker”, and “Dicks Sporting Goods” or a website such as “Eastbay.com” which shows that there are many ways to access and buy various shoes.

A great place that many people buy their shoes from is the outlets where the stores receive unsold items from other stores and re sell them for a cheaper price. Stafford buys some of his shoes from the Nike outlet because he thinks “Nike’s are fresh”, but he would rather save money on his shoes than overpay. When Stafford says his shoes are “fresh”, he means that they are new and of good quality. With the economy today, it is rare to find a person that would want to pay more for their shoes than getting a good deal on the same shoes.

“Men may not define themselves by the shoes they wear, but their shoes still tell us something about them”, says online shoe store Zappos.com about men’s shoes.

This story went well, I could have made some changes and additions making it more specific to the men and women of Patterson Mill.
