A map of the northeastern states - Dencities

It has been said that people in the southern states are stupid, but extremely friendly. However, it has also been said that people who live in the northern states tend to be rude and stuck-up. Being from the south, the very first thing I noticed when I moved up here was the change in hospitality.
According to Alex Harper, a sophomore at PMHS who was born and raised in Maryland, “There’s some people with hospitality, but there’s some that just don’t know.” Coming from the south, I noticed a huge difference in how people are treated here in Maryland as opposed to how they are treated in North Carolina, my home state.
Gabby Samra, a sophomore at PMHS, was also born in the south, Texas, but moved up here in 2003, the same time I did. She said, “It’s hotter in the south so you’d think that it would make people crankier, but it doesn’t.” she went on to say that in the south, strangers aren’t afraid to talk to you; not in a creepy way though. “First thing I noticed when I moved up here was people kept to themselves and there’s a lot of gossip up here,” Gabby said. I couldn’t agree more.
From my own experience, I know first-hand that people up here are extremely fake. Not everybody here is like that, but many people are. Also, it is not strictly the northern states that are like that, though. You think someone is your friend on Monday and by Wednesday they hate you. Then you find out, they never liked you in the first place. However, in the south, what you see is what you get; if someone doesn’t like you in the beginning, reality is, they’re probably never going to like you.
Alex also said, “First impression makes or breaks if the person wants to get to know you or not.”
I’m not saying that the north is a terrible place to live because it’s not. The whole world has their areas that are ruder than others.
