Over a thousand people packed the main floor of Remingtons Downtown, and they were all there for two of the four touring bands playing that night: A Day to Remember and Parkway Drive.

Parkway Drive is one of the most prominent acts in the metal-core scene. This is the third time they’ve come to Springfield, and they’ve torn the roof  off of any place that has dared to book them. The first time they came to town, was with a band called Comeback Kid. Since that show, Comeback Kid has been banned from Springfield.

With such a reputation, fans were expecting quite a night. And they got it. The riffs were heavy, the drums were fast and loud, and the screams were deep. They supplied the night with a montage of mosh pit friendly tunes. The place was pandemonium, and slam-dancers felt right at home.

After at least a half hour of waiting in the miserable heat and body odor infested oxygen, A Day to Remember took the stage. Right away the lights set the mood for the epic show ahead.

The vocals sounded clear and very precise. Even if you didn’t know the words, you still wanted to sing along with the catchy melodies. The guitars were spitting out tasty riffs and they were right in sync. The drums were loud and right on target. The guys were jumping all over the stage, making it hard for anyone to stand still.

With each song containing circle pits, two steps, and breakdowns, it was impossible not to be moving. Topping off their encore with a cannon of confetti, they proved to have a very well thought out live show that was a great time for every one.

ADTR’s ending song was “The Plot to Bomb The Panhandle,” during which all you could hear was “I’ll make my stand, right here with my friends!” Being screamed by the entire sweaty, dehydrated, starving, and downright exhausted crowd. That alone made the $19 ticket and $2 minor charge totally worth it.
