The owners of Ocean Zen have put their hand in the fast food game their new restaurant Yum Yum Bowl. “It is the Qdoba of asian food”, said, part owner of Yum Yum Bowl, Johnson Tan.
The Yum Yum bowl is located on 706 E. Battlefield, and the menu features a variety of beef, pork, shrimp, chicken and tofu. The main dish is served in a bowl with mixed vegetables on top of rice or noodles, which costs around eight dollars. You can add an egg roll or two crab puffs which costs around ten dollars, and all the food is served in a bowl.
The rest of the menu features cheese-cake of the day, chilled noodle salad and BBQ chicken wings “We’re going to add more American food down the road” said Tan.
“We all use fresh ingredients, no MSGs and the best cuts of meat”, said Tan.
The food is served in to go bowls with chopsticks, sauce packets and lids set out to grab.
“At first I didn’t think it was enough, but it fills you up quickly”, saidjunior Ross Straughan, “My tum tum said yum yum.”
The restaurant is decorated with an upscale earthy feel. Brown, tan and green help draw the dinners into a relaxed atmosphere. “ I like everything here and I’ve got to comeback”, said junior, Brett Moore.
Dinners filled their bowls with Kalbi Style Steak, Sweet and Sour Chicken and Island Style BBQ. “The chicken was amazing,” said, junior Beau Cotter.
“I can’t stop eating and I like never eat”, said junior Katy Cardin.
Most dinners agreed that Yum Yum Bowl is on par with Ocean Zen. “Yea, it’s the same but casual”, said Cardin.
“We want to bring good quality food at fare price”, said part owner of Yum Yum Bowl, Mei.
