In Springfield, when we think of fashion and trends, the mall usually comes to mind. While the mall may offer a variety of stores, there are many other stores located conveniently downtown. If you want to stand out in a crowd, boutiques such as Indie and Envy offer a more modern and unique style. Walking into Envy can make you feel like you are stepping into an L.A. store. With shipments coming in almost daily, you get the high quality clothing without the expensive prices that come with the L.A. name brands. “Everything here is under $40 and there is only six of every item. It feels exclusive without the crazy boutique price,” manager, Morgan Montgomery said. If L.A. style isn’t for you, then Indie downtown gives off more of a cultured feel. “We stock fashion forward trends inspired by art, music, history, ethnicity and imagination,” owner, Camille Henry said. Clothes come from all over the world as well as 50 local designers who share their quality merchandise. Variety is the main key when inspiring their fashion. “I like things that not a lot of people have. It’s nice because the clothes are unique, handmade pieces that aren’t incredibly expensive,” senior, Hadie Henry said. With antiques, jewelry and paintings also for sale, Indie is more than just a clothing boutique. “We don’t pigeonhole ourselves by a certain trend, price range or product.” said Camille Henry. Building your own look means giving it thought and venturing outside the mall. Unlike many stores, Indie and Envy can give you a one of a kind look.
