Thick and heavy padding, hot summer days and long stretches of tough and brutal physical activity might not sound like a great day to you, but to junior Joey Housos it is a part of being on the varsity football team.
Housos has had a thing for football since third grade, and while time may have passed since then, his passion for the game has not.He plays wide receiver and safety.
“It’s really fun to play and I just enjoy it,” Housos said.
Despite all the hours he puts in on his own and with his team, he said his real inspiration is his dad.
“He taught me everything I know about the game and he used to play with me when I was younger,” he said.
Housos enjoys many things about football, but he said there is one thing in particular he likes the most.
“I just really like playing with my friends and my team,” he said.
Even though he really loves football, there are a few things about it that he isn’t very fond of.
“I could really do without the running or two-a-days,” he said.
As far as college athletics go, Housos said he is unsure if he will be participating. However, he said he is worried he may miss it if he doesn’t take the opportunity. Out of all the things you could say to describe him, he chose one word in particular.
“I would probably say I’m consistent,” he said.
