While Ms. Meltzer is not new to the Lab school, she has a new title. Her old title was "assistant to the director" and her new one is "associate head." Throughout her 28 year career at The Lab School, Diana Meltzer has always been up to new challenges that face her. She was born in New York State, but she grew up out side of Philadelphia and attended Penn State University. She started working at The Lab School when she was earning her Masters Degree in education at American University. A requirement that she needed to do in order to achieve her masters was taking an internship at The Lab School. With the help of Sally L. Smith, Lab School Founder, she started the internship and she never wanted to leave. What inspires her the most about the Lab School is the energy that the employees and students bring in every day, "The new things that happen every day; and the energy that surrounds us all" is what made her feel welcome. Now being in a new position she faces more challenges and she feels like there is not enough time in the day to finish them. Although facing new obstacles through her new position she completes them all with enlightenment. She is looking forward to this school year and is planning on staying at The Lab School for many years more.
