Mr. Isenberg is the new History and Government teacher at The Lab School of Washington. Mr. Isenberg has been working with students for three years. This is going to be his fourth year teaching. He chose to work at The Lab School because it is not like other schools and because of the uniqueness. He also likes the small classes.

Mr. Isenberg was born and raised in North Carolina. Five years ago he moved to California. A month before he came to DC he moved from Orange County, CA. Mr. Isenberg received his Bachelors degree from The University of  North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received his Masters degree from Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA.

Government and History are appealing to Mr. Isenberg because he thinks that it is interesting to know what has happened in the past and we can use that information to make better decisions for the future. He says, "if we don't learn from our mistakes the first time, they'll just happen again and again."

He spent his first three years at a public school named Troy High School in Fullerton, CA. Mr. Isenberg doesn't have any learning disabilities and when he deals with challenging students he says that you have to be understanding and patient, but firm. He thinks that the most important part for students and teachers is to never give up. He likes the closeness of the high school where "everybody knows everybody."

Mr. Isenberg likes to watch NFL and college football, basketball, and a little bit of hockey. Now that he lives in DC he plans on spending a lot of his free time exploring the city and the surrounding areas. He thinks that it is a great place to live with a lot of fun things to do.

Mr. Isenberg loves to travel. He loves experiencing other cultures, new places and meeting new people. Over the summer Mr. Isenberg spent three weeks in China and he had a blast. Mr. Isenberg used to live in Jordan while he was in the Peace Corps and he loved the Middle East. Mr. Isenberg thinks that it will be easier for him to travel now that he is a teacher. One good piece of advice he offers to the students is, "Stay on top of your work and work hard. With hard work comes great things - nothing comes out of doing nothing."
