On March 24th, 2008 a new futuristic sci-fi action movie called Doomsday was released into 1,800 theaters in the United States and Canada. It is also a part of Germany’s Fantasy Film Fest Nights in April that will be screening in Berlin. The film is directed and written by Neil Marshall and produced by Steven Paul, Benedict Carver and Trevor Macy. The action packed movie runs for 105 minutes. It has an R-rating for strong bloody violence, language and some sexual content.

This movie takes place in Scotland three decades after a lethal virus called the Reaper almost wipes out the population of the country. Because of this virus, the rest of the world decides to build a wall around the entire country to keep the Reaper from spreading. Twenty five years later, the Reaper emerges again and an elite team is sent to Scotland to find a cure by any means necessary. The leader of the team, Edan Sinclair, is played by Rhona Mitra and is a character of redemption. Bob Hopkins plays Bill Nelson, who is the policeman that nominates Sinclair for the mission and monitors her progress. Although the country is contaminated, the elite team finds survivors of the Reaper. These survivors have set up their own society in the ruins of Scotland. They are determined to kill anyone who dares to set foot inside their home. This is where the action begins.

The intense filmmaking style keeps the audience on the edge of their seats. It brings back the gritty stunt and action movie that doesn’t get made anymore. The film shows real people, in a real world, doing really dangerous things. The cast must have been very brave to do the real stunts shown throughout the film. So, if you like dangerous stunts mixed with futuristic sci-fi action, get out there and see it!
