In the town of Stanley, the volunteer fire department used to be where the post office is. Although, after many years, they realized that they do not have enough room for the equipment they most possess. All volunteer fire departments have a lot of equipment they must have in order to perform the tasks necessary during fire scenes.



Like many of the local fire departments, Stanley fire department has many events that they put on in order to raise money for their department. According to Todd Nellis, who is the chief of the department, “We usually have our fundraisers during the spring and fall. This would include our chicken barbeques and our turkey raffle that takes place in the fall.” The fire department has also just made a new purchase, which added to their vehicle squad their new rescue van, which carries the essentials needed when they get to the fire scene. The Stanley Fire department is making these changes to help make the fire scenes not only safer, but more comfortable for the victims.
