Mr. Prusinowski’s Eighth grade class makes snowflakes out of Borax. There are ten different steps they had taken to make the snow flakes. The class listened in as he gave perfect instructions, as they made the snowflakes they used pipe cleaners to make the shape of their snowflakes which they could choose whatever they wanted to make it like. Students were all given one pipe cleaner each, their choice of whatever color pipe cleaner. The snowflakes they were making are to be used as Christmas ornaments but used however the student wants.
 First couple of steps that the Students had to do was put their initials on a 400mL beaker fill it up to 300mL with water, then they turn the hot plate on and wait for water to boil. As they waited for this step they went over facts about the stuff that is used in the lab. After they went over these steps and waited for the water to boil they were handed pipe cleaners and make a design but it had to fit inside the beaker easily and they then attached an ornament hook. They then poured the boiling water into a red cup and added 1/3 cup of borax and they had to make sure it was dissolved the borax they put their snow flake into the cup held up by a Popsicle stick. The snowflake could not touch the outside of the beaker or the whole experiment would be ruined. Once the crystals are done forming the project is done and they have a beautiful Christmas ornament for their tree.
