The 6^th graders participated in the 27^th annual Conservation Field day on September 13^th and 14^th. The event was organized by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ontario County and Bristol Hills 4H club.

The field trip started at 9:15a.m and ended at 1:30p.m. There were 75 students on this trip and 12 adults including the 4 volunteer parents. The trip connected with their ecology and meteorology unit. The sixth grade class was divided up into three different groups. Two groups were sent down the blue trail and one group was sent to the red trail. The trails lead to certain interactive stations for the students.

The children learned things like "emergency response," were the children learn CPR or the heimlich. The class also learned about bees and the simplified anatomy of a bee at stations like, "the bee’s knees" and "the busy buzzing bees." The station shows the life cycles of bees and the types of adult bees. Another great interactive station was the "run for recycling "and "Native Americans, the first recyclers," where the students ran around and tried to recycle the right things and put them in the right place. Many other stations such as, "groundwater" and "drinking water," was more of the meteorology subjects, describing how water is recycles. The sixth graders also learned some survivalist techniques like, "poisonous and edible plants" and "geocaching."

The sixth graders had a blast and Mrs. Fritz said, "That she plans on doing this every year."
