Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Rihanna…excited yet?

Grammy award winners Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco and Rihanna are hitting the stage at the ARCO arena in Sacramento on April 18th, the HP Pavillion in San Jose on April 19th, and the Sports Arena in San Diego on April 20th. On tour will be a group called N.E.R.D who will be performing alongside the stars. Another show has also been announced in the Bay Area. There will also be a show at the HP Pavilion on June 6th.

With West’s huge music success, this tour will be memorable to many in the SLz community. He has won several Grammys and released three successful albums. In 2005 he was named one of the most 100 influential people in the world.

“We all know that Kanye always does it really big,” said Senior Victoria Wong.

Those who have seen any of the headlining artists perform on stage before enjoyed their shows.

“I saw Lupe Fiasco,” Sophomore Alex Bishop said. “It [the show] was good.”

Rihanna also is known to put on good shows. She’s participated in events such as the 2007 MTV Movie Awards, the 2007 American Music Awards, and the 2008 Grammy awards.

“She [Rihanna] came in from the ceiling singing ‘Umbrella’,” Junior Katherine Maurer said.

Students at SLz feel it will definitely be worth the money. The tickets generally range from about $35-$80 dollars and can be purchased at ticketmaster.com.

“Hell yea! Kanye’s gonna be there,” Senior Justin Hua said.

Teachers around SLz also support the performers.

“Kanye West is one of the most successful Hip-Hop artists out there,” said Music teacher Ben Draper.

Kanye isn’t the only one leaving a mark on this tour.

“All the artists are hot right now,” Hua said.

It’s clear which artists are most highly anticipated though.

“Yeah it’s about to be successful. A lot of people will go, mainly for Rihanna and Kanye thought,” Sophomore Joseph Nunez said.

Fans are eagerly waiting for the date to arrive as the buzz around the tour continues at SLz.
