Many people don’t understand why the yearbook staff charges so much for the book at the end of the year when they can sell it for $40 at the beginning of the year.

Here’s why:

The actual bill for the 400 or so books ordered is right under $40,000. Yes, you got it, the cost per book is right under $100. You are getting it at a steal no matter when you buy it!

Can you imagine if the yearbook staff took a chance and ordered hundreds of books and nobody bought them? That’s why there’s a discount for buying early. Early on changes can be made to save money if needed. The rest of the yearbook’s actual cost is funded by advertising.

Use the coupon at the bottom of the Tiger Times to purchase your yearbook by September 10 for the best price. There will be one other opportunity to get a discounted yearbook (for $60).

If you let both opportunities pass, you will pay $80 for a yearbook.

If you’re lucky. For the past several years, yearbooks sold out before the end of school. In 2010, the yearbooks sold out before they were even delivered.
