Students are back in the halls of Winter Park High for another year, from sophomores who are new to the campus to seniors returning for the final time. Some people might say that the first week sets the tone for the rest of the year, but the students had mixed feelings. “It was confusing, but good,” said sophomore Tanya Speltz, while her fellow tenth grader Lucas Johnson said, “It was awesome!”
The sophomores may have found the new layout challenging to maneuver for the first few days, but they weren’t the only ones. Junior Francesca Flaherty said, “It was exhausting.” Everyone has a new schedule and new classes for the most part, and wandering around the WPHS campus can confuse anyone. “The first week of school was very hard,” Adam McNeil, a junior, said.
The seniors might have the biggest dilemma, this being their final year to walk the Winter Park campus as students. Some might miss the school, while others might be glad to get out of high school and on to other things. Hopefully their last year is comparable to senior Matt Gregory’s comment, “Fantastically awesome.”
