Some people believe that being popular is the best thing that could ever happen to you. I see that sometimes the most popular kids are the ones that aren’t happy with themselves and feel like they aren’t worth it.

I think that popularity can kill your self esteem and can make you feel worthless. Everyone has that little voice in their head that says “Be popular! Have tons of friends! It would be so much fun!”

I try to tune out that little voice because I have friends that used to be "popular" and just got booted out of their little “groups”.  When my friend was popular I felt jealous of her and how many "friends" she had. I felt like I was losing her. When she got kicked out by her so-called friends, I felt terrible for her. She had a really hard time dealing with the rejection, but I felt like eventually her not being popular gave her more friends. People weren’t as afraid to approach her or talk to her. People felt more carefree around her. Although the new friends she made were considered “weird and uncool”, she still felt a lot better. I knew that my friend felt less pressured to be perfect.

Popularity shouldn’t be your goal. You should strive to surround yourself with people that love you for who you are. If you do you’ll have a nice group of people that find you interesting and kind. You might not have a ton of friends but you’ll have enough great ones to get you through it.

I totally agree with you popularity is not the most important thing in the world

I totally agree with that, because I've had a few friends who were 'popular' at my old school. They were my best friends in elementary school, but since last year, it's like a button has been pushed on them, and now they act like they rule the grade.
