Attention students of OHVA! It’s time once again time for the annual election! Some of you might ask “What election? Who are we electing?” Well the answer is simple, student council, of course. As for who, that is for you individually to decide. Yes, I said you because you have to vote for your student council. This is your chance to give your input, your chance to proclaim your opinion and your time make a difference in your online school.

What’s so great about student council? What make it so important that everyone needs to vote? Well to answer questions like these, let’s take a peak into the purpose and responsibilities of student council. For starters, the purpose of student council is to be communicators. Because they have this purpose, they have the responsibility to take your ideas and present them to the council and advisors. Basically they communicate the thought of the students, faculty, and school administration. But that’s not all. Their other responsibilities include organizing outings, setting up service projects, and even organizing and promoting the Spring Dance. Most importantly, the student council is there for you to have a say in what goes on in and out of your online school. If you couldn’t tell already, the student council’s goal is to always improve OHVA.

It is time for you to understand the voting process, who is running and when you can VOTE! For those of you who went to brick and mortar high schools the voting process will probably very different to you, but don’t fret it’ll all make sense. Now, when you vote for central office, you will be voting on tickets. On a ticket there are four different people for the four different positions, president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer. This means you will be casting only one vote for all the positions instead of four individual votes for each position. (Example: If Robbie, Julie, Luke, and Rachel were on ticket one and Lea, Josh, Megan, and Mark were on ticket two, you will be voting on either ticket one or ticket two, NOT a combination of people.) This year, the ballot opens this Wednesday, October 20th from 9:00am till 4:00pm so cast your vote. Also this year you have five different options to choose from meaning you have five different tickets to choose from. See the table below to know who is running and on what ticket.

Ticket 1
President - Jesse Sockman
Vice President - Clayton Taylor
Secretary - Kevin Smith
Treasurer - Emily Powell

Ticket 2
