The typical attraction of a male to a female usually is hair, eyes, smile, and sometimes even the sport they play. Many girls can’t deny their guilty pleasure of how much they love the tight pants of the baseball players or the football players, or how basketball players, soccer players, and track stars look so tempting while their running up and down the court, field, or track. Often referred to as “the jocks,” these student athletes are usually the ‘big guys’ on campus. Usually fitting into the category of smart, muscular, and passionate these, athletic gods have many teenage girls drooling at their feet.
Most girls in high school will admit that they’ve liked at least one student-athlete in their lifetime. The squeals, giggles, and screams of teenage girls are often produced when they see one of the athletes. When the butterflies in their stomachs ignite, a girl will have to admit that this is the beginning of a‘crush.’ Every time the girl notices that athlete in the hall, looking good in his lettermen jacket or team jersey, her stomach turns, and she can’t help but smile, and if she’s with her friends, a fit of giggles set in.
Daydreams begin when one simply begins to imagine all the possibilities. While these stellar athletes are imagining a victory or setting a new personal record, some teenage girl is dreaming of how she wishes she could be his girl: writing her name with his last name all over her paper, with little hearts on top of each I. She can only imagine, for other girls would consider the whole “crush” thing as a simple middle school fantasy.
What makes athletes more attractive to a girl than a normal guy? That is the fundamental question that must be asked in order to understand the anomaly that is a teenage girl. Usually one would expect a sweaty guy to be repelling beyond believe, but this is not always the case. There are times when a girl simply finds such a natural human scent as appealing as a red rose’s intoxicating aroma.
Seeing a guy run, in tight pants, sweating and working hard makes the heart rush blood throughout the body. Scientifically, it makes the teenage girls more attracted to the athlete, for the hormones released by witnessing the athlete appeals directly to all the senses. Baseball players and football players, for example, wear tight pants along which make girls go wild on account of all the hormones being pumped throughout the body. Similarly, the jerseys basketball players wear display all the upper muscle groups of the players which allow girls to witness and learn the anatomy of the student-athletes.
Endorphins are microscopic peptide hormones that bind to receptors in the brain that reduce the sensation of pain and affect emotions. Such a hormone is capable of increasing the blood supply and causing those butterflies to start acting up. Swimmers are athletes that are known to stimulate the production of hormones in a girl on account of them not wearing a shirt and displaying their structured core freely.
Most teenage girls would deny these hormonal reactions as a simple phase. But others plainly demonstrate their attraction. Cara Baca, a junior is an example of such a girl and gladly stated she is “very attracted [to athletes] because they have amazing bodies and keep them in amazing shape."
Contrarily some girls are not always attracted to athletes, because they see past the exterior and are able to realize that sometimes those built bodies conceal jerks or boring individuals who only know how to look good and get away with everything. Some athletes can have big egos, and they give student-athletes a bad name. There are athletes who truly care about their lives, friends, and education. These are the athletes that should be recognized, for, regardless of the amount of sweat and blood they shed in battle, they are still true to their morals. That is the true reason for teenage attraction to athletes.
