Over the course of the year, I have been updating you, the readers on the 2009 Ringgold Art Show. We have gone through the preparations, the committee’s, even the process of how to make a mural. It all came down to Friday April 17th night from 7pm to 9pm. The night was filled with excitement, happiness, disappointment, and tear jerking moments.

The last month for the Ringgold Fine Art students has been very hectic. Each committee mentioned in the previous articles to had a very stressful time getting everything together. The wonderful foods featured Friday night were all donated by the parents of the Fine Art IV students. This all had to be prepared by the refreshment committee then transported to the administration building where the Art Show was held. The Publicity committee had to put up posters and advertise in public places to try and get the public’s awareness. The purchase committee had to make sure the sponsors were going to come. The matting committee had to rush and check all the mats, and make sure that they were cut right. Finally the biggest job of them all was setting up the Art Show. Only a few people hand selected by Mrs. Robison were permitted to set up the art work. They worked from eight in the morning to eight at night setting everything up. Even after all that work there was more to be set up and fixed.

During the Art Show the students volunteered to hand out programs or sit at the desk in case somebody wanted to buy artwork. There were a lot of people in attendance on Friday the 17th, including parents, grandparents, volunteers for the food, and friends of the family’s. The food seemed more popular then the artwork, especially when the chocolate fountain went online. There was a lot of conversation to fill the air and a lot of tension between the students.

There were many awards given out. Nichole Senf got most of the purchase awards, but Cole McLaughlin won the people’s choice award. Valerie Gambino got a lot of purchase awards as well as the Best of Show award for 2009. Many others received awards as well, but you could tell those who didn’t win anything were dissapointed. At the end of all the speeches given by Mrs. Robison the student s had a little surprise for her. Andrea Price gave a tear-jerking speech about how much all the students loved Mrs. Rob and gave her flowers and several gift cards. The night ended with hugs and pictures with Mrs. Rob.

After the Art Show was over most of the students went to the Mon Valley Eat ‘n’ Park. Half of the table ordered milk shakes and at 9:30 or so at night the waitress seemed quite upset to have to serve all of us. The Art Show was an event none of the Art students will ever forget and it is something to look forward to every year. We hope the Art Show next year will be even more unforgettable.
