For the fourth year while I have been in Ringgold High School, a volleyball tournament was held to help raise money for a charity.  Also, for the fourth year, one team dominated the tournament.  Matt Blair’s Daycare won the 2009 tournament between the students, and went on to dominate the teachers verse student game.

The Matt Blair’s Daycare was formed in 2006 when Matt Blair recruited five freshman for the team.  Although the team was young, not only did they compete, but they took second place losing only to a senior team stacked with Ringgold volleyball players.  During the next year, even though Matt Blair graduated, the team continued to play.  This year Matt Blair’s Daycare dominated the tournament outplaying every team.  This marked the first of three championships for the team.  In their third season, the team faced adversity when the baseball players were not permitted to play on the team.  Even without these key players, Matt Blair’s Daycare managed to win the tournament for the second year in a row.  The third and final year of the Matt Blair Daycare dynasty proved to be a tough tournament.  They demonstrated why they were the top ranked team with two easy first round wins.  They then played another top ranked team and simply dominated them.  They played the 106 Posse in the quarter final round.  There were some controversial calls, and the 106 Posse defeated the Matt Blair’s Daycare.  Matt Blair’s Daycare now had to bond together more than ever to battle their way through the loser’s bracket.  They did this and found themselves playing 106 Posse in the championship.  Matt Blair’s Daycare then had to defeat 106 Posse I n two best of three matches.  They were not challenged and proved their previous loss to be a fluke.  They became champions and then played the teachers in the final match of the day.  They once again demonstrated their dominance, and showed they were the best volleyball players in the school!

Although Matt Blair’s Daycare will never play in another tournament, during their four year reign, they became the greatest Ringgold dynasty of all time.   By dominating teams all four years of high school, it will be difficult for any Ringgold team in any sport to achieve what the Matt Blair’s Daycare did.  Not only did Matt Blair’s Daycare win, they had a great time doing it as well!
