At-a-glance

My Skepticism of Healthcare Embed This Article

Lately, one big argument and discussion in this great country is the idea of public health care and people’s views of what it is. I do agree that the health care in this country is broken, but fixing by an all out health care reform is not what we need.   In my opinion, I don not believe health care reform will do any good for this country.  It will ultimately lead to the decline of wealth and over all health of this country and its citizens.

My first reason that I believe most people will have a hard time dismissing health care is because of the cost.  Its estimated cost is one trillion dollars over the next 10 years, and that’s a lot to shell out for a county in so much debt.  If the U.S. had everyone share the national debt, it would cost each of the estimated 307,010,119 people about $38,387.36 to get this country out of debt.  I do not feel that this is a step in a positive direction for our country’s debt relief.

My second reason is I think the wealth and health classes will effect who gets the treatments first.  For example, I do not believe that if a 98 year old woman came into the hospital needing a new kidney that she would receive this kidney because she would be deemed older than a 23 year old man.  Therefore she is considered not as important as the 23 year old male who came in the same day, needing the same procedure.  Secondly, I believe that the amount of money an individual has will play a part when they receive the health care they need.  I know that this health care is aimed to help the lower class and lower middle class, but I do believe that it will be no different than now.  In most cases, they do not have health care.  If it helps, it will be marginally different.  I know the beliefs I stated in this paragraph are not said to happen if public health care is to come to the United States, but everywhere that public health care is, these things I am describing happens.

These are two of the many reasons Presidents Obama's plan for health care reform will be a negative force in the United States.  I also believe, things like health care reform are not fair to the men and women of our Armed Forces that get their health care provided.  My last and final opinion states that if you feel that you need health care, join the military or a union job that provides your health care.  Ultimately, I feel many who are sitting around wishing for healthcare reform are the same people that live their lives on welfare.
