On September 4, 2009, former Monongahela police officer, George Langan, was taken into custody for allegedly trafficking drugs in Monongahela. Langan who is forty-five was implicated as an important figure in Monongahela's cocaine trade. It has been said that he was protecting drug dealers by warning them of searches, revealing police information on counter-drug efforts, and participating in actual deals and partnerships himself. Langan was suspected when drug task force officials suspected that several narcotics investigations were compromised by "Tip Offs" made to suspects by Langan. He is facing 42 counts covering 10 charges. George Langan was a Monongahela Police officer for 18 years.
