With everything going on, I forgot that I was going to Haiti. My Pastor informed me this Wednesday that everything is looking "as a go" for our trip. This was great news, but it made my stomach flop. I am getting nervous, very. Being away from home is an experience I never had, besides going to a campground with my boyfriend and boyfriend's parents. I don't know why I took such a leap from home; why not start off with a small local mission trip? That's the question I have been getting every time I talk about Haiti. The answer; I don't know I guess Haiti is a challenge for me, my strength, and most of all my faith. There are so many consequences of going to Haiti. When Haitians see white Americans they automatically think money, which they don't have much now. After the earthquake that hit Haiti, they need so much help. Yes, we have sent millions of dollars down there but you need someone to put that money to work. What I mean, you give money to Haiti and then what? How are Haitians suppose to use that without help? They need people to put the money that we have sent to use. This trip will be an experience that can make you or brake you; hopefully it does not break me.
