Facebook Changing

Facebook is trying a new modified version of the user home page that completely get rids of the “Most Recent” view; this is the news feed with a small twist for the user.

At this time, the typical home page layout lets users switch between “Top News” and “Most Recent,” allowing users to follow a concurrent stream of keep informed with friends and family. Another  interface users no longer have the “Most Recent” choice which is replaced with a “More Stories” option.

“We were alerted to the revised home page when tipster Michael Lain wrote to us of the growing user frustration from those who are missing the “Most Recent” option.”, said Nicholas Jackson. Though the subset of users with the new designed page is tiny, there still seems to be alot of annoyed or baffled users turning to Facebook to voice their disappointment.

There’s also a “MORE STORIES sucks – I want my old news back … now” group on facebook, and there’s a set of complaints surfacing in the Facebook Help Center. There’s a even a Facebook page designed to gather feedback on the change. The general agreement among these users is that they’d like to have the “Most Recent” alternative back, as there is currently no easy way around this little change.

For now, it’s not apparent why Facebook is testing this revision or who they’ve targeting for the test run. “We are constantly testing new designs across the site,” a spokesperson for the Facebook stated.
