On Wednesday, February 13, the FHS community suffered a loss with the death of 19-year-old Antonio Howard. Born on March 15, 1988, Tony was a student in the school’s SD program for eight years.

“He was a goodwill ambassador for the program with his magnetic smile,” Andra Logan, an FHS teacher who knew Tony best said. “He was courageous and kind, and he was admired and loved by everyone who knew him.”

“A dedicated and loyal Redskins fan, Tony was a people person, and looked forward to each and every day at FHS. He especially enjoyed music, and spent much of his time visiting Gwen Davis’ chorus class. Field trips were a highlight of Tony’s time at FHS, his favorite being a luncheon cruise on the Potomac River. Tony had five siblings: two sisters, Sterlina Byrd and Monique Smith, and three brothers, William Brewer, Sterling Howard, and Deshane Smith. Tony’s funeral was held on Tuesday, February 19 at the Faith Christian Church.

“Tony will be greatly missed, but never forgotten,” Logan said.
