On Thursday at promptly 1:45 p.m. the North County Raiders baseball team left for Cuba to take on the Wildcats. The Raiders have been on roll lately and were looking to give Cuba a beating they deserve. Derek Emily would be starting pitching and with a great defense to back him up.
North County jumped out to an impressive 8-0 lead after 2 innings. Derek Emily was throwing an outstanding game which included having a no-hitter going into the 4th. After, Emily’s great performance Derek Gibson came in to wrap it up. Gibson fanned the first and only 4 batter he faced. The Wildcats only totaled 4 hits off the Raider pitching staff. While NC creamed the Cuba pitching staff totaling 13 runs on 15 hits.
Outstanding hitters for the Raiders include: Jordan Thompson with 4 hits, Matt Robinson with 4 hits, and Cody Huff with 3 hits. Derek Gibson, Sam Hulsey, Will Swofford, and Joey Winckel also had one hit a piece.
Now with the Raiders just rolling over teams it’s that time of the year to take on the Farmington Knights. North County will be host of the Knights next Tuesday at Raider Field approximately at 4:30 p.m.
