Paths to Anywhere

Many decisions cross our paths and make us wonder what to do. We look for answers in all the right places but we can’t always seem to find them. We always pray for the doors to open, but what do we do when the time comes to choose? How hard is it to make a choice when all the doors are open but we do not know which one to step through? Decisions will come and go, but choices stick with you forever.

When most people are looking for wisdom they turn to God, family, friends and people they look up to or respect. Some people say that they are looking for the answers in the wrong places because they are still confused or having trouble making the right choices. The truth is; people are looking in the right places. The problem isn’t that they are looking for something that’s not there, but, their own feelings are still coming into play or they have so many different opinions that they are overloaded. Take golf for an example. In golf, a person can have a teacher or someone who can help them and guide them through the game. The player must listen to the teacher but is not forced to do what the teacher says. If the player were to listen to his teacher and practice what they say then they may progress at the game, or may not. The real problem comes when too many people step in and tell the player too many things. The player gets overloaded with information and cannot concentrate on what they are doing and what they need to accomplish. The goal is slowly lost and they are left with a blurred idea of what they should be doing. As people in the world our goals can become blurred along the path. The bright side of it all is that the path leads anywhere; the possibilities truly can be endless.

It seems as if people are always complaining that doors are not opening for them and that the opportunities are not there. The doors are always open; sometimes you just have to budge a little or even kick one down. If you want something bad enough, you will go get it. Sometimes in life all the doors are wide open but it’s hard to choose which one to step through. Taking the first step to move toward a goal is a big move and sometimes very nerve-wrecking. Although stepping through some doors may not be the best option, its progress towards reaching goals and pushing on through the stages of life.

The decisions people have to make are temporary, but the choices they make affect them forever. As young children we make choices that affect us immediately and afterwards.  The choices we make now will have effects later on. These choices will sometimes lock us into something for long periods of time and will help us to grow and learn. This is why making the right choices is something so important. Decisions make us think, but the right choices take us towards our goals and dreams.
