Every year, MHS welcomes two new seniors to host its own weekly question-and-answer comedy named ‘In the Hall.’ Passing the torch, former hosts Eric Gannon and Erin Ryan selected Kevin White and Tim Drummond, who both share the excitement of their new positions.

‘I was overjoyed at the news,’ says White. ‘I wanted to be the ITH host my senior year since I saw Matt and Justin (my freshman year). The fact that I was co-hosting with Tim just made the dream that much better.’

Drummond credits his close working-relationship with Gannon for his appointment as an ITH co-host.

‘I worked with Eric a lot last year, and as it became time to choose the next host, he asked me how I would feel about taking it over. Of course it was something I was interested in.’

To be chosen by Gannon made quite an impression on the new hosts because both see last year’s host as the best ITH host that MHS has had.

‘My favorite host would be Eric for his fantastic comedic and technological abilities,’ says White.

Drummond agrees.

‘Not only was [Eric] a great on-camera personality, but he was the first host to really use the software to create the most humorous episodes possible,’ he said.

Being an ITH host is not a walk in the park as each host faces his own challenges. These struggles include the approximate 10-15 hours it takes to create a full episode, between the brainstorming, filming, and editing.

On the other hand, Drummond finds getting quality answers the most challenging aspect of ITH.

‘The toughest part is getting good footage to work with. It all begins with coming up with a good question and knowing who you can count on to think on their feet and get creative.’

Nevertheless, facing these obstacles is rewarded on Fridays. Both hosts agree showing the finished product makes it well worth it, and encourages them to work even harder for the next one.

‘I want to make the best episode I can. My judges are my peers at MHS, so, basically, I have to entertain them as much as possible,’ says White.

This being said, the ITH hosts have yet to disappoint their so-called judges, getting plenty of positive feedback from MHS students.

‘I think it’s a good thing to look forward to every Friday morning; It’s funny to see your fellow students having fun. It lightens up the school day,’ says junior Billy McNett.

But the appreciation isn’t limited to the hallways of MHS.

‘People at college and multiple students from different school districts tell me how much they love ITH,’ says White.

Some even believe this ITH host to be a myth.

‘Once at the movies someone screamed, ‘Hey its Kevin in the Hall! He really does exist!’ Apparently a freshman thought I only existed on TV.’

White and Drummond encourage MHS students to suggest new questions on their Facebook page. So far they’ve used Nicole Bridgens’ question, ‘What would you do for a Klondike bar?
