(From left to right) Alejandro Vallejo, Jeff Hartsough, Zach Baker, Omar

Vallejo, A.J. Vallejo, and James Speer pose for a picture after performing at the Executive Surf Club.
Vallejo, one of the most popular

bands to originate from

Austin, Texas blends sounds

of “modern rock grooves, potent

guitar work, Latin percussion,

and soulful lyrics” to

captivate its fans. The name

Vallejo derives from the last

name of the three original

brothers, A.J. (vocals/guitar),

Alejandro (drums), and Omar

(bass).

“We tried coming up with

names, we just couldn’t come

up with a name that worked.

Our early fans would say,

‘We’re going to see the Vallejos

play,’ so they named us

that by default,” A.J. Vallejo

said.

Vallejo’s passion for music is

a part of who the band is. The

members feel that rocking is

what they were meant to do,

and they are fulfilling this by

bringing their fans the music

they enjoy.

“[Music] is very important

to us because it’s all we care

about and we truly feel like

we were put on this earth to

rock,” Alex Vallejo said.

Playing live is a huge part of

the way Vallejo expresses its

passion for music. The band

interacts with their fans during

their live performances

and feed off of the positive

energy given off by the audience.

“Euphoria is all there is to describe

it [playing live music],”

A.J Vallejo said.

Although the band does

tour America, Texas is its

home state and the fans here

are always more than excited

to attend the concerts.

“Texas people are crazier

and they’re rowdier - must be

something in the water,” A.J.

Vallejo said.

Vallejo will keep on rocking,

but it’s up to the fans to keep

the passion for rock music

alive.

“The future of rock ‘n’ roll is in

your hands,” Alex Vallejo said.
