Morgan Allen, Amber Appleman, Michelle Beseda, Christi Carter, Audre Corliss, Blair De Haan, Stephanie zmason, Nicole Sanchez, Danielle Trujillo, Melinda Wood, Jeanette Vest, Amber Bookout, Jessica Froreich have all joined this year's first Winter Guard. They have had a good start and hope to win some competitions that are coming up soon.

"It [Winter Guard] seemed interesting and I like to compete. So, I thought trying out would be a good experience," sophomore Jessica Froreich said.

Tryouts were held for about two hours, just before the holiday break began.

"The tryouts were harder than I expected. We had to learn the dance quickly and since I was not on Color Guard before; it was more difficult for me," Froreich said.

Tor others that were on Color Guard before felt the tryouts were like the ones for Color Guard or easier. Not only are the tryouts vital for successful team, all the team members should work together.

"It is extremely important. . .(that) we work together because if we don't, our counts can get off and by doing so it might mess up others around us," sophomore Michelle Beseda said.

Also, the team members try to get along to make a more complete team.

"I get along with most of the [girls] from Color Guard. Some I don't know that well, but I am making new friends," sophomore Danielle Trujillo said.

Everything is not all practice and rules.

"We sometimes goof off and mess around. [Winter Guard] is really a lot of fun," Trujillo said.

Winter Guard has everything any other organization would have. Kid participation, competitions and a whole lot of team work.

"We dance," senior Nicole Sanchez said. "We flag and we have fun."
