The Flour Bluff men’s varsity soccer team ended their season Thursday March 24. It was a tough playoff game for the Hornets with an ending loss of 0-1.

The team played against the Harlendale Indians. The Hornets almost scored a goal during the first half. #10 Scott Hanes threw in the ball, which gave them a goal but no points due to a call saying they shoved the goalie.

It was a rough first half with hits and fouls from both sides. Both goalies blocked the goals keeping the score at 0-0 for the first half of the game.

The second half of the game the Indians scored the first goal. After this point the Indians brought on the fouls. They pulled and shoved their way through the rest of the game. # 15 sophomore, Modesto Ordaz was in the middle of his famous juke (cut) when an Indian grabbed his arms and stole the ball. The refs missed many fouls and calls, however they didn’t let #6 sophomore, Jose Ordaz get by.

Jose kicked the ball towards the goal which was blocked by the goalie. The refs called injury to the goalie by Jose causing the clock to stop and Jose to sit out for awhile.

With two minutes and six seconds left in the game, Modesto took a shot at the goal but over kicked. The Hornets kept up their defense and were determined to score a goal in the final minutes of the game. With eighteen seconds left in the game the ref gave a yellow card (warning) to the Indians for a shove on #20 senior Chad Roberts. He was then able to take a corner penalty shot, which was blocked, ending the game 0-1.
