Tattoos! Everyone sees them, a lot of people have them. People get them to express their thoughts, others do it to remember loved ones. Stephen Martin, a Senior, got a tattoo for his mother, one for religious reasons, and another just because he like the design.
Tattoos are done in many places, like tattoo shops or even someone’s house. C.J. Roberts, a Senior, had gotten all 15 of his “tats” at someone’s house. It’s cheaper this way, Roberts only payed a thousand dollars on all 15, whereas if he went to a shop it would’ve been much more.
People have their different opinions about tattoos, where, how and why they get them. Like Senior Agueda Garza, who thinks they’re cool, but doesn’t believe she’ll ever get one, because she can’t think of anything she wants on her for the rest of her life. As well as coach Mike Drinkwater, who doesn’t have any tattoos, but thinks that if person gets them to be cool isn’t as good as actually having a reason to have one.
Other people believe that it separates them from the pack. Stephen Martin said that he feels that people without tattoos are “plain.” In agreement with Martin, Alex Huggins, a Senior, who has a tattoo in memory of his grandmother, thinks that it shows the way people feel through art.
They’re also administrators with tattoos, like the Renzette’s, Coach Franco, who regrets getting his, Coach Brooks and Coach Howell. Mrs.Renzette has zodiac tattoos and Mr.Renzette has Egyptian tattoos. Coach Brooks has a German Rottweiler on his arm with the quote “Big Brooks” under it. Franco has a tribal design on his leg and he got it “just to fit in” in college.
"I think their awesome," said Freshman Monique Bailey. "I thinking of getting a shooting star with my dog's name in it, to remember him. People with tattoos are unique and people with out them need to think about getting them unless it's for a stupid, cause their AWESOME!"
The students have them to express their ideas and enjoyments. Senior Jimmie Gibson has an Autobots tattoo, from the Transformers Movie, on his knee to symbolize his favorite movie. Senior Brandon Barron got his tattoo to show his artistic ability by drawing it out, another one that shows his favorite sport and his home state. Senior Krystal Belen has three for her mother, aunt and nephew. There are more tattoos in Santaluces, but you either have to look for them or get them yourself.
"They're very interesting," said Freshman Yesenia Miranda. "Depending on the reason you get them. I'm going to get my name "
