It is finally here. Impressions 2006 has arrived with the theme “Live Out Loud.” This year’s Blue Belle spring show is filled with all new special effects along with new performances from other students from Leander.
There are going to be many types of performances in the show including routines from the dance classes and color guard. But they are not the only ones living “out loud.” Cameron Kainer, senior, is singing with Ben Moore and Wayne Zingery playing the drums. The senior guys are of course performing and many are eager to entertain.
“I am kind of nervous but I am excited at the same time,” said Mark Shirley, senior.
Shirley is also singing in the show to a Garth Brooks song.
The Blue Belles have been practicing and preparing for the show the entire year and many can simply not wait.
“I am so excited,” said Betty Castillo, senior. “We have practiced so much and I just can’t wait to perform it for the public.”
The team has had long practices every Friday and Saturday night for the past three weeks stretching into the early hours of the morning.
“The late practices can be quite hard sometimes,” said Brooke Roberson, junior. “It is hard to keep a positive attitude at times but I know that all the hard work will pay off.”
Throughout the show the Blue Belles will have around 15 costume changes and 15 routines to show off to the public. The show opens with the Leander Drumline and Blue Belles undeniably living out loud with the loud beats of the drums. There is also a routine with the Blue Belle Honor guards dancing and acting as Billy Idol, Elvis Presley, The Blues Brothers, Jerry Lee Lewis and James Brown.
One of the most memorable times in the show should be the tribute slide show to the seniors. The show is the last time the seniors ever dance together.
“Since this is my last spring show I know I am going to make it the best,” said Hayley Hodges, senior. “The last night is going to be so sad but it’s all so worth it.”
With the show already underway the seniors are starting to cherish their last moments on stage.
“I am really thrilled that the show is finally here and it is a great way to end my senior year,” said team captain Evan Anderson, senior.
The Blue Belle director, Tracey Anderson is anything but negative about the shows’ “loud” performances.
“The Blue Belles are ready more than ever and I think it’s a reflection of the 2006 class,” said Anderson.
The show takes place on April 6-8 at 7 p.m. in the PAC. The tickets are $8 for students and $10 for adults.
