Each week, we will answer some of the most frequently asked questions from students and parents. If you'd like to have a question answered, email Mrs. Givehand, the Puma Tracks sponsor and we will answer you in the next edition.
FAQ's for September & October
Can I have an extension to complete my coursework?
Yes. All you have to do is clear it with your teachers before the due date.
Can you explain what my grade means in PowerSchool?
Grade-to-Date is the ‘main grade’ used to track your work. This compares the points you have earned right now to the number of point’s available in the course so far. It basically looks at what you should have turned in so far, and figures the grade based on that information. If you have overdue assignments, it will lower your grade to date.
Quality looks at scores on assignments that you have turned in. If you turns in only one assignment all semester but got 100% on that assignment, your quality grade will stay at 100% even though you are failing. This lets you know how strong the work is that you are turning in.
Progress looks at the points you have attempted and compares them to the overall points for the whole semester. Think of this as an overall progress meter for the course. It can never go down, it only gets larger each week as you turn in more work. Once you have completed all assignments for the course, it will equal 100%.
On Target looks at the points you attempted against what you should have turned in by now. If this is below 100% it means you have overdue assignments. If you have turned in all of your assignments that have been due up until now (even if they got bad scores) this would equal 100%. If you have worked ahead in the class, this grade would be over 100%. Just like Progress this is a ‘meter’ for how you are doing, but this one can get bigger or smaller depending on your progress compared to where you should be right now.
Who do I contact to become a participant in a club or activity?
Check out the ISWI Clubs section of the school paper. There is a list of clubs and their sponsors. All you have to do is send an email or call the advisor (the club teacher) and say you want to join.
Where is my teacher’s virtual office hour?
Usually there will be a link at the bottom of the teacher’s email signature and you should look in the course. It’s usually posted on the announcements page.
