The Jonas Brothers, Ashanti, Cassie, and Ciara are all very well known in the music industry. Although, the music industry has changed tremendously throughout these last few years, many artists still find a way to shine. Either they all have the same dream, and either some have talent, or they don’t. The Jonas Brothers, who have made a sudden roar in the music world, got their fame in the year of 2005 and have definitely made a name for themselves in the modern day music industry.
“I must admit that I am a fan of the Jonas Brothers. I sing the songs with my little cousins and everything,” senior Danielle Cosby said.
While the Jonas Brothers have a lot of fans, they also have people that are not big fans of them or their music. “I really dislike them. The only reason everyone is so crazy about them is because of their looks,” senior Deyjah Spragley said. She continued with, “I don’t even think they’re that cute.”
In the R&B world, Ciara, Cassie, and Ashanti all get a lot of hatred from different people, even other artists. In a 2006 interview with Vibe Magazine, the R&B queen herself, Miss Mary J.Blige, shared her opinion when she was asked what she thought about Ashanti. “She’s okay. I mean she’s no me, but she holds her own, I guess she’s good in her own way, I like her though, and she’s a really good girl.” (Vibe Magazine, 2006, pg. 97)
Cassie, who hadn’t made a song in a good year, came out with her hit single, ‘‘Official girl’’ featuring Lil Wayne. While the song made a HUGE hit with some of the R&B heads, others still downed her saying that she only has looks. “I like Cassie, and I totally disagree when people say that she just has looks, she’s come a long way,” junior Dana Mason said.
Ciara, who is working on her third album, Fantasy Ride, has made a huge comeback. “Ciara is my favorite,” sophomore Taylor Godwin said. “When she first came out, she wasn’t that great, but now that she’s been away for a while, she has definitely improved her vocals. She really has talent.”
