Halloween is a night set aside for kids to dress up as anything they like and go door-to-door and fill a bag with pounds of teeth-rotting candy. According to infoplease.com, there was an estimated 36.1 million potential trick-or-treaters in 2006, from the ages of 5 to 13, across the United States.
Obviously there are also many more trick-or-treaters who are over the age of 13 that add to this statistic. As these 6-year-olds turn into 16-year-olds, the costumes become a little more, well, revealing.
If you take a look at any Party America ad, or any store that sells Halloween costumes, it is clearly seen that the friendly lady bug or princess costumes have been turned into sexy, provocative lingerie like ‘costumes.’
While teenagers may not admit to it, their Halloween night is not filled with trick-or-treating around their neighborhood, but getting drunk at some party with 50 other girls dressed like a playboy bunny.
This night is used as an excuse to wear barely anything and get attention from everyone. Think about it, these costumes are not made for teenage girls to go door-to-door in neighborhoods filled with 8-year-old’s dressed up as Hannah Montana and Ironman.
They are created to draw attention, and on a night when it is okay to roam your community streets on the quest for candy, there will obviously be men that have other things in mind.
Some who are normally shy and introverted in their normal lives use this night to let loose and live outside the box for just one evening. Sometimes this let-loose-attitude can draw more attention than expected or wanted. Dressing provocatively may bring unwanted attention.
This night is a prime opportunity for sex offenders to prey on children, and better yet, teenage girls dressed as woodland animals. So, tonight when you head out in your sexy nurse costume, think about the kind of attention you will be drawing to yourself.
Think about that party you are going to that will be filled with drunken teenage boys with only one thing on their minds.
