Dear Editor,
Each year students come back complaining about the administration and rules. I think Mr. Raines has done an excellent job bringing back positive school spirit.
At football games we’ve chanted the fight song with the student section and it’s amazing the number of students who know it. However, the Back to School Dance is a tradition and every year it gives seniors time to dance and learn names of freshman and sophomores we otherwise wouldn’t know.
I understand completely to your generation our dancing is inappropriate to say the least, but that’s the way of dancing for our generation.
Also our dancing is not harming any student, it’s a form of bonding and excitement for the student body. Just a reminder, Elvis was once censored.
Each fall new seniors come to the high school anxious for graduation to come. However, this is my senior year and I want an amazing one. My hope is that Formal and Prom we will be allowed to dance as we want since there is so much cost and preparation into these nights.
Be lenient and remember “grinding” has been the way of dancing since far before ‘09 freshman year and the student body loves it.
