Some might think of it as being pressure coming into a new school with the expectations to serve and protect. Not for Matt Simpson.
Simpson is the new head security hired to replace Officer Jerry Target who recently retired.
Before joining the staff he was a school police officer in USD 501 assigned to Topeka West High School. He also worked part time for the State of Kansas Adjutant General Department.
“I like Washburn Rural High School,” Simpson said. “It is a great school and the staff and environment are beyond compare.”
Simpson lives in the school district and said he loves to be a part of all the activities that are held at Washburn Rural.
“Attending sports events and other activities are also ways that I can benefit this school,” Simpson said.
Matt Simpson received an associates degree from Allen County Community College and is currently taking online classes through the Fort Hays State Online Program.
“I believe that I can benefit this school with my education and all the new things that I think I could bring to Washburn Rural,” Simpson said. “I also have good policies and training.”
