From the years 1973 to 2004, 48,589,993 abortions have been performed in the United States alone. That is an average of 1.4 million abortions each year, and that number has only increased since then.

By the fourth or fifth week of becoming pregnant the baby has already formed a heart and had its first heartbeat. People go to jail or get the death penalty for killing a person so is there any difference from murder to having an abortion?

The 1967 Abortion Act makes abortion legal if the pregnancy is less than 24 weeks. By the 24th week the baby has formed into a body and is growing lungs.

There are many health risks to having an abortion. They range from abdominal pain to the most risky, death.

There are many reasons for someone to have an abortion such as she cannot afford to have a baby, maybe she is still a teenager and can not handle the emotional or physical drain of having and raising a baby, but is that still a good reason to have an abortion?

Pregnancyhelponline.com says, “No matter what your personal views about abortion are, the fact is that every time an abortion is performed, life changes.”

Fortunately there is another option, adoption. Instead of killing an innocent person, why not give him or her the option of living. There are many people who wish they could start a family and have reasons to why they cannot; adoption may give them the option of being parents.

According to pregnancyhelponline.com adoption brings happiness to so many people and allows a birthmother to give the greatest gift of all to her child – the gift of life.”

If a person thinks they are mature enough to have sexual intercourse they should take the responsibility of dealing with the consequence of a possible unwanted pregnancy.

Abortions are not only unhealthy for the body but are expensive, they start at $300 and three months into the pregnancy the cost and health risks increase.

Is it really worth all of the health risks and the expense just to kill an innocent baby?
