Three libraries are being set up at Baruch College Campus High School: the College Office, Mr. Nourok's classroom and Ms. Moore's classroom.
Students may access the books in the library in the College Office. The books in the libraries in Mr. Nourok’s classroom and Ms. Moore’s classroom have yet been categorized. The two libraries also need to implement a system for borrowing books.
“There would be volunteer opportunities to organize the library,” said Scot Nourok, ninth and tenth grade Writing Arts teacher and 12th grade advisor.
Leah Moore, tenth grade Global Literature teacher and 9th grade advisor, also requested students to volunteer to organize the libraries.
“Students can come see me… and help get the library up and moving!” said Moore.
The three libraries will have a large variety of books, ranging from the Barron’s SAT review books to the new publications by John Grisham. Although students can read the books in their advisories' collections, the school encourages students to use the libraries.
The library in the College Office has many test preparation textbooks, reference books and guidebooks. It also has novels about college and post-collegiate employment. Students can access the library whenever the office is opened and not in use for college appointments or other purposes. Located inside Room 403 are two tall amber-colored bookshelves that hold about a hundred books. There are various SAT I and II, Advanced Placement and Regents study guides. In room 404, students must sign out any books they borrow and return them after two weeks.
Guidance Counselor Bonnie Phillips recommends students to read Loren Pope's The Gatekeeper and Colleges that Change Lives. Peterson’s Guide and College Prowler series were also suggested.
