White pants, the crack of the bat, and a freshly mowed diamond are just a few of the things that, Bishop Kelly’s baseball team can enjoy. After losing several seniors who were a dominating force, BK’s Varsity baseball team has something to live up to.
After losing some power and fastballs from last year, Senior Randy Hall says, “The team this year could beat the team last year any day.”
With that said, the Knights overall have a 13-4 record and stand 6-2 in their conference.
This years seniors include Paul (Boo) Dodson, Micheal Thomas, David Nathan, Dave Gregorio, and Randy Hall. The team consists of a total of _____ players coached under Bobby Sutcliffe. Sutcliffe has been the boys coach for ___ years as well as teaching Physical Education.
Colombia will be the true test for the Knights as they pose the biggest threat and competition. They have lost only one game in district play thus far.
When Senior “Boo” Dodson was asked what the likelihood of a win was, he responded by saying, “Absolutely! It will be a good game!”
A strong team bond is important to the success of any team. The Knights are no different in this aspect either. “Our team chemistry is everything,” Randy Hall stressed, “ you can’t win a State Championship without team chemistry.”
With an upcoming game against Skyview, the boys near the end of their season games. As the district tournament nears, wins become crucial for the Knights to win a State Championship for the 2008 season. The Varsity District Tournament will be held May 6, 7, 8, and 9th. Hopes are high for a chance at the State Tournament which will be held the week of finals, May 15, 16, and 17th.
