The Bishop Kelly Softball Team slides their way through the season to a hopeful state championship. The team consists of 15 girls and is advised by head coach, Wes Worrell along with Asst. Coach, Craig Corner.
The team has played many games with a record of 9-10 and they are 6-4 in the league. As far as rank, they land in the middle of the pack but advancing with in the next several weeks is a promising goal.
The softball team has gone to the State Championship for the past 10 years and has won 8 State Champion titles.
Having a strong team bond is important and contributes to a successful season. They do many outside activities like having an Easter egg hunt and team sleepovers and lunches.
“Our team chemistry is growing and we become closer as the season progresses,” said senior Deanna Godina who strives to consistently improve each and every day.
With a lot of hard work and dedication at practice, Coach Worrell hopes to continue this tradition.
“We have a good shot at advancing to the championship like we have in the past years,” he said. “Our goal as a team is to get 1% better each day individually and as a whole team.”
He says that the girls are working hard to get to a good spot and when it is within control, they will take the opportunity to advance to the top.
