The Bishop Kelly Science Olympiad Team has once again brought home the state trophy in a feat repeated over and over every year since recent memory. The competition, held at Northwest Nazarene University, involved many schools including Rivals Boise High School and Skyline High School from Eastern Idaho Throughout the day, the students competed in 23 different events, that ranged in topic from physics to biology to astronomy. Events were located all over the campus, and event processes ranged from long tests to timed stations. Either way, the four Science Olympiad Subdivisions that made up the Bishop Kelly team took the challenge with stride, with the Top Bishop Kelly Team taking the State Trophy. “It was amazing” said Junior Laura Jenkins “It was very well deserved”. Next on the agenda is the national completion in Washington D.C. the team of 15 competitors and 7 alternates will leave the gem state for the nations capital on May 27, 2 days early to take in the sights, which is one of Laura Jenkins main goals. “ I love to sightsee and browse around” she told the KnightBeat. There is no doubt that the competition will also be on their minds as they prepare to face 60 teams from all around the country. They’ll be sure to show the same competitive spirit they have shown in the past, and represent Bishop Kelly with pride.
