The 8-octave singer is back. This performer and songwriter explodes back onto the U.S. charts with the release of her 10th and newest album The Emancipation of Mimi.

Mariah Carey's album became available in stores April 14th. It features singles It’s Like That and We Belong Together. It also nets the greatest first week sales of her career and has earned a #1 spot on the billboard charts. The singles came out earlier in 2005 and have been in rotation on VH1 and MTV.

Carey has been producing music and albums since 1990 and her last album came out in 2002 entitled Charm Bracelet. Many were skeptical about Carey’s return because of her situation a few years back. After the failure of her first movie Glitter, Carey suffered a mental and physical breakdown and took some time off from singing and songwriting.

In spite of this, she was rewarded the world's best-selling female artist of the millennium at the World Music Awards in 2003. Carey has been around for 15 years and hopefully will stay around the music business for a lot longer.

When asked if a tour was underway, she responded with “I’m not really sure what I’m going to do yet, I am just happy with the sales of the cd. My fans have always been there for me.”
