Busy preparing for the start of the season, the men’s lacrosse team is looking sharp. Weekly workouts during the post season have kept the players in shape for the stiff competition.
Intense daily practices have begun and the team is already showing strong unity. The boys keep morale up during practice by singing “You are my Sunshine” while running laps during their warm-up. A typical practice includes working on passing and shooting, scrimmaging, doing drills, sprinting and running laps around Fletcher Park.
“The team this year looks a lot improved from last year, and I’m looking forward to doing my part in making the team better. I’m excited about having the opportunity to do something big for Broughton lacrosse,”senior Matt Walker said.
Now in his second year of coaching at Broughton, Coach Adrian “A” Pomilio is ready to see the team get out on the field after all of their hard work during the off-season.
Still a fairly young organization, the team gets stronger each year.
Pomilio said he can “see improvement in individual skills. This year’s team is head and shoulders above last year; they just have to be able to put it together.” Pomilio’s favorite part of the game is offense. He said, “A good running game is fun to watch.”
The Caps have already played two games, holding a record of 0-2. However, the team still has hope. Senior Marcus Southern said that as a pre-game ritual he likes to “get the team to rub my body with eye black, listen to a little Regina Spektor to pump me up, and then I’m ready to kill.”
Make sure to come support and motivate the Caps as they dominate other Cap-7 teams and improve their record from previous seasons.
The Caps play their next game at home on March 7 at 7:00 p.m. against Millbrook.
