On August 2, students of Jackson-Madison County walked the
halls of their school. For some students it was complete chaos, but others
found it rather interesting. Students catch up with old friends, while making
new ones.
Katlyn Wallace is a junior at South Side High School. She was born and in
Bolivar, Tennessee and moved to Jackson when she was 13.
She loves Mexican food. She has two Chihuahuas.
She has two younger siblings.
Over the summer, Katlyn went to the Buffalo River, Illinois,
and Iowa with
her friends and family.
“It was the first time I’d ever been and it was really fun,”
said Wallace.
When Wallace returned to school, her reaction was just to
get it over with. She likes South Side because it’s school. Katlyn’s favorite
class is history because it’s interesting.
“I plan on getting through my junior and senior year and
getting good grades all year,” said Wallace.
After South Side, Katlyn plans on going to school to get her
degree in cosmetology.
“I don’t know what school I’m going to after I leave here,”
said Wallace.
While in Buffalo,
Katlyn saw many fireworks. While Katlyn sat down with her friends, someone sat a firework beside the car they rode in and it caused the window to burst.
“It wasn’t really scary, the people who shot it were kind of
ignorant,” said Wallace.
Katlyn’s year so far is going good. She plans on not getting
in trouble this year.
Wallace plans on having a good year and wants to end this
year with good spirits.
