Bungie Corporation
Halo is a science fiction video game created by a well-known company named Bungie. The company got its fame in 2000 when Microsoft picked it up. The version “Halo: Combat Evolved,” the current project at the time, became the first game in what has since become a trilogy. Of course you would expect a game published by Microsoft to be off the charts. You can bet your hats off that it was.

Some of the features associated with the game are, single and multi-player modes, and cooperative mode, where you and a partner can play simultaneously throughout the lifespan of the game. The storyline is based on the journey of the Master Chief, a cybernetically enhanced super-soldier. An artificially intelligent companion named Cortana accompanies him. Your job as the Master Chief is to defend the future of society from the Covenant, which is an invasion of alien enemy forces. The graphics in this game are just insane, and Game Informer magazine suggested it was the best “first person shooter” on a video game console. This just means you see only what the Master Chief sees as you become him in the fight against the Covenant .

The second game of the trilogy, Halo 2, is now able to connect X-Box Live. For those who don’t know, this is where you wire your X-Box to the Internet and can play with just about anybody all over the country. One other aspect added is system link, where two or more x-box systems may be linked through a cable and there are numerous amounts of people who can all share the fun. Halo 2 was voted the most popular game on X-box Live for two years when another action game, ‘’Gears of war’’ stepped in to the picture.

Bungie regained its popularity with the release of Halo 3 in September 2007. Again, there are some added tools for this game. For the first time, the “Halo Nation” (the people who fanatically play the series) can use online co-op mode where they can now accomplish beating the game with their friends throughout the country. Another ability is to play “online multi-player mode” where the gamer has the opportunity to play against their friends rather than the Covenant. To give you an idea of popularity, this game in particular sold an astounding 170 million dollars worth of copies in just the first day of its release to the public.

Then in October of 2007 Bungie parted ways with Microsoft and is now doing its own thing. Who knows, if this sounds good enough you might just play it yourself.
