The cheerleaders went through several stellar routines at the rally.

The big day finally arrived for Chelsea High School on Friday, October 23, 2009. Students arrived at school dressed up showing their school spirit ready for the Pep Rally.

There was red and black everywhere in the gym and the band kept a lively drum beat going. Some students decided to paint their faces to show their school spirit even more. Students like Izamar Gadea, decided to take it the extra mile and dress up like the red devil. Of course the official Red Devil mascot was working the crowd as well. The Pep Rally began at 1:35 pm. with Mr. Mullaney giving a short speech and introducing Terrell James who gave a strong singing of the National Anthem.

Later the captains of the different sports stood before their teams and gave enthusiastic remarks about their seasons. A constant theme was the captains’ thanks to students for their support. The largest cheers were for the football team, which is now 6-1 following their first loss last week to Whittier.

The juniors won a pie-eating contest among classes, and Drama teacher Amy Czarnowski won a similar contest among teachers.

The cheerleaders performed throughout, and at one point attempted the difficult scorpion stunt, which the captain of the squad, Joanne Phan, succeeded in. The stunt required her to stretch one leg all the way behind her back and grab it over her head for while pointing her free hand to the fans. This stunt hasn’t been seen in years in our school!

This Pep Rally was filled with pride for Chelsea High and was a huge success!
